Well I mentioned I was testing a new method, and would post about it after trying it out for a few months. So it's been a couple of months now. Just like every couponing method there are pro's and con's. I have a few con's with this. But it's incredibly simple and saves me a ton of time.

When I recieve my weekly inserts I write the date on top of them. I put them in a manilla folder. (I still look through the coupons because there are FREE coupons often in there that I would've missed otherwise.)
Then when the ads come out I use an online coupon database. It's super simple. I type in the item that's on sale, and it tells me if there is a coupon from the inserts (and where to find it) or if there is a printable coupon to use. THIS is the coupon database I use.
-Then I go to the exact coupon insert and cut it out. I then place the coupon in it's corresponding shopping envelope.
Time saver, yes! But the database isn't always completely accurate. It may show that there are no coupons available and then I find one as I am browsing for another coupon, or it may say an insert has a coupon and it's not in my insert (it could've been regional or I already used it), or if I am at the store and I see an unadvertised deal I don't know if I have a coupon to match with that sale item.

But it is such a simple process, and so easy. There is no strategy nor complex method. Couponing can be time consuming but it doesn't have to be, and it doesn't have to be hard. This is the easiest method I have found.

As always, I am free to take advice, comments, or suggestions.
Did you see my post from yesterday? I have a link to a free spreadsheet to create your own database. I put my ecoupons from my loyalty cards on them too, so I know what I have.
ReplyDeleteAhhh. I think I get it now. but only because I've used the online database before to look for online printable coupons. If I had not used that before, I probably wouldn't get it. It's very difficult for me to wrap my brain around this couponing thing. I mostly use coupons for baby food, diapers and wipes.
ReplyDeleteKerrie- that seemed time consuming, I am trying to cut out steps. Plus, I don't use e-coupons...
