4/23/09

Yesterday I went to Albertson's and Fry's. If you notice I am not spending a lot of money each time I go to the grocery store. I have Autumn and Weston in the cart and can't buy loads of groceries in one trip and I only buy things that are on sale and that I have a coupon for. Sometimes I make multiple runs to a grocery store in a week, but for me that's fun because I feel like I am shopping all the time without spending a lot of money each time. Plus it gets me out of the house!
Here is what I got yesterday and my savings.
Frys:

Steak seasoning (free), Deli Creations sandwich, 4 deoderant (all free), 1 dish soap (free), 2 spray air fresheners (one free), toilet paper (free), Quaker rice snacks (free), Bertolli pasta meal, and 2 steamfresh veggie packs.
I spent $10.89 and saved $34.09. That's a huge savings. I didn't know Frys doubled their coupons, which is how I got many things free...I was expecting to spend more, but was happy when my total was less than I anticipated.

Albertsons:Albertsons didn't have what I thought was good sales this week. And I love Albertsons for their monopoly game... On this trip I got 3 boxes of cereal, 2 gallons of milk (one was free), 2 packs of ground beef (one was free) and a loaf of bread (free also). And I got a powerade...but Autumn and I drank it so it's not pictured.
I spent $11.40 and saved $29.43. Want to know how? Ground beef was buy one get one free. If you bought 3 boxes of cereal for $7 (I had a coupon for each box of cereal too, making it 3 boxes for $3.50) you got a free gallon of milk and free loaf of bread.

On Earth Day I went to Walgreens because they were giving away free usable grocery totes. But like before I feel guily getting one thing and it being free, so I bought a couple of other things, and turns out when you came in for the free bag they gave you 15% off your purchase, and I already had coupons for their sale items I wanted so I felt like I scored.I spent $1.56 on dish soap and toothpaste, and saved $1.89. Like I have said before...my goal is to save atleast 50% everytime I shop.

  1. Today I felt a little better about this whole coupon thing. I finally got to go to Walgreens, CVS and Hobby Lobby today.

WAGS: spent - $4.29, saved - $8.31, then got a $3 coupon for my next purchase. It was like I spent $1.29 SAVED 90%

    CVS: spent - $32.21, saved - $31.38, then got a $2.89 coupon for my next purchase. Like I spent $28.32. SAVED 54%

Hobby Lobby, I had a 40% coupon on Wilton products, so I bought the stuff I needed for Kaelyn's birthday cake in a few weeks!

Even though I spent a little more than I wanted at CVS. I got some great deals!

When I get the hang of this, maybe I'll start my own savings blog and me, you, your mom, and Cheree can all have couponing blogs and we all can compare our savings at the end of the week!

  2. Kerrie you're funny. Good job! It totally takes practice. In the beginning I would come home frustrated because I spent more than I thought I would. But I learned from my mistakes, and now that my coupon stash is piling up I save even more.
